Custom Wireless Engineering

Continuing on last month's theme, wireless & DTV, this month we're highlighting another wireless technology service that Scharff Weisberg provides - custom wireless technology engineering. We have a number of clients (such as the Metropolitan Opera) who are using custom engineered antenna distribution systems provided by Scharff Weisberg for their wireless microphone and intercom systems. The benefit of a custom antenna system is that it can be crafted to cover an extmy morning 2ensive space while reducing drop outs and interference to zero. These systems are designed, manufactured and installed by our RF engineers specifically for each location and cost a lot less than you might think.

New Year's Eve at MSG - Worth Leaving the House for

my morning 2Putting aside our preference for staying close to home on NYE, the wife and I ventured out to Madison Square Garden to take in the My Morning Jacket concert courtesy of LD Marc Janowitz, who was using a large SW-supplied lighting rig for this concert as he had for the Fall MMJ tour. It was a great looking night and I have my morning 2to give props to MMJ for performing a really tight three and half hour set with only two short breaks.

Marc provided a cornucopia of great looks throughout the concert using a rig featuring High-end Showguns, VL-500's, VL-2500's, VL-3000's and Martin 2000 Performance fixtures. MMJ drew a large, boisterous crowd that enjoyed themselves to the hilt and I'm happy to report that I was the victim of only one beer spill of the unintentional variety.

Keep Your LED Lockdown

Did you see Kanye on SNL in December? Did you not think that the video element looked totallykanye2 fly? We did, but then again, we're biased, having been the supplier of a Lighthouse R-6B 6mm LED video system, along with a Hippotizer HD media server.

While we've been recognized for our video projection capability for many, many years, LED has become a major part of our repertoire using indoor high-resolution, outdoor and low-resolution products. We work with Barco, Lighthouse, G-lec, Element Labs and other products and provide them as part of a comprehensive system that includes all the parts and pieces.

Scharff Weisberg Hosts Tech Training for Freelancers

freelanceOn February 6 Scharff Weisberg hosted a special tech training day open to the members of our esteemed freelance technical community. During this session, attendees had a choice of day-long sessions in specific audio, video, convergence and lighting technologies with hands-on time as well as classroom training. About forty attendees joined us and it was very productive day with a great amount of knowledge-sharing between the students and instructors. In fact, all involved vowed to expand on the initiative because it was so worthwhile. Stay tuned for information on future training events for clients and tech staff.
