Mastercam News
Mastercam X6 now available for download!

The latest release of CNC Software, Inc. Mastercam software is now available for download. They have transformed their "What's New" information from a static printed document into an interactive multimedia experience! The What's New in Mastercam X6 DVD offers a menu-driven interface and a rich graphical design. On it, you'll find information on all new features in X6 for every product including these highlights:

  • In-process stock model creation and use
  • More powerful dynamic milling
  • Highly efficient "OptiRough" rest roughing
  • Specialized multi-blade part programming
  • Variable roughing for ceramic inserts

With the new 64-bit support in X6 there are now separate install programs for 32 and 64-bit operating systems. You must install the version appropriate for your operating system.  Mastercam will not allow you to install the 32-bit version on a 64-bit operating system, or vice versa. The "Read Before Installing Mastercam X6" section in the link has important information on the differences between the 32 and 64-bit versions. Another change in X6 is the "What's New" is now a separate install program that should be downloaded and installed. The X6 and "What's New" install programs are in the "Products" group in the link above.

The X6 sample files are also a separate install, this program is located in the "Patches & Translators" group. Converter and translator install programs are also available in this group.
Note that at this time Art is only available for the 32-bit version of X6.

If you are moving from X5 to X6, make sure immediately after you install X6 to run the new Migration Utility from the X6 File menu to migrate most of your current X5 settings to X6. If you
are moving to X6 from an earlier version, you need to use the Update Folder option in X6 to migrate these settings. Refer to the X6 Transition Guide under Start Menu > Mastercam X6 >
Documentation for additional information.

As always when installing Mastercam remember that you must be logged into the machine as an Administrator.

Contact us for information on updating to the latest and greatest version of the Mastercam software.

No Cost Workshop
Creating Inspection Routines as you program parts

When: Wednesday, January 25, 2012
Time:   1pm ~ 3pm PST

Come to this workshop to see the latest trends in quality control. See this mfg quality solution which allows manufacturers to "build quality in" as part of the manufacturing process definition. This is even better than the benefits of "in-process" inspection and repositions inspection as a manufacturing step vs a "check your work" step.
