The Chamber office will be closed December 23- 27, 2009 in Observance of the Christmas Holiday.  We will reopen on December 28th at 8:00 am. 
 
Southwestern College

Southwestern College is now offering a Bachelor's of Science Degree with a major in Health Care Administration.

 The Bachelor of Science degree in Healthcare Administration is designed for individuals who have an allied health associate degree or individuals already working or preparing to work in the healthcare industry.  The focus of the major is on managing resources and developing skills in financial management and healthcare policy administration to advance in healthcare organizations such as medical practice organizations, hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities, health insurance companies, managed care organizations or community health providers. This program is slated to be offered in both the on ground and online formats.

Dr. Branstetter of Branstetter and Sparks Opt. PA will travel to Panama at the end of February 2010 to perform eye exams for hundreds of people.  She could use your help as she gathers supplies for her trip.  If you are willing to donate, drop the following items to 1105 N. Buckner at your convenience.
Old pairs of glasses (no loose lens please), over the counter reading glasses, and goodies for children (pencils, hard candy- no chocolate please, small trinkets or toys) 
 
Stay fit over winter break by dropping in on any of the FREE fitness classes at the Oaklawn Activity Center (OAC). Classes and times vary, but all classes are FREE for everyone. Try something new, bring your friends and family (even out of town guests) and see the great new Oaklawn Activity Center!

5:00, 6:30, and 8:00 p.m. in the PowerHouse at 302 N. Georgie.
Childcare will be available at the 5:00 and 6:30 p.m. services for babies 2 and under. The community is invited to attend.
Volunteer Tax Preparers Needed
 
McConnell Air Force Base is looking for volunteer tax preparers at the base Tax Center.
 
No prior tax preparation experience is necessary.  All you need is the time and desire to help others.  The IRS will provide certification training at McConnell AFB. 
 
IRS training dates are January 11-15, 2010.  Each volunteer must be certified in order to prepare taxes.  Active duty military, retirees, and their dependents can volunteer. The Tax Center will service clients Monday through Friday, and volunteers need to be able to commit 6-8 hours per week.
