Bridge Hospice Offering Volunteer Training Courses
Bridge Hospice will offer training courses for prospective volunteers beginning on Monday, July 30. The training will be held in the Wenner Conference Room at Birchaven Village, located at 15100 Birchaven Lane in Findlay, and will take place for six consecutive Mondays from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Pre-registration is required. Hancock County Center for Safety & Health Children Bike Run
There will be a benefit on Saturday, Aug. 11th at The Moose Lodge, 1028 W. Main Cross St., Findlay. Bike Run starts at 12:30 pm, Raffle at 7:30pm and from 4:00-8:00pm, there will be door prizes, food and music performed by Rock & Roll Outlaws.
PRINCESSES CAN GO ON A NATURE ADVENTURE AT OAKWOODS
Let your little princess explore the outdoors in her favorite royal attire on Saturday, July 28 at 10 AM at Oakwoods Nature Preserve. Participants should meet at the "Doc" Phillips Discovery Center. Oakwoods Nature Preserve is located west of Findlay at 1400 Oakwoods Lane, off County Road 144 and West Sandusky Street. CASA is looking for staff or volunteers who are able to supervise rides and inflatables at our Flag City Balloon Fest Kids Fair. Nearly New Shop Offering Extended Hours, Special Sales
The Blanchard Valley Hospital Auxiliary Nearly New Shop will be holding a special extended hours shopping day on Tuesday, August 7. The Shop will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and all items will be 25 percent off from 4 to 7 p.m. Beginning Tuesday, July 17, all summer clothing will be 50 percent off and jewelry will be 25 percent off. Casual and career fall clothing will be featured starting July 31. The shop is open Tues., Wed. and Thurs. from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the first and third Friday of the month from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. All proceeds from Nearly New Shop sales benefit Blanchard Valley Hospital.
Bridge Bereavement Services to Offer "Understanding Grief" Workshop
Bridge Bereavement Services will offer a workshop for understanding grief on Monday, July 30 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Wenner Room at Birchaven Village, 15100 Birchaven Lane, Findlay. The event is for individuals 18 years of age and older and is open to the public. Pre-registration is required. Walk to end Alzheimer's: Save-the date
The Alzheimer's Association's largest event to raise awareness and finds for Alzheimer's care, support and research is scheduled for September 8th at 10:30 a.m. at Riverside Park, Findlay.

Blanchard Valley Regional Cancer Center Hosting
The Blanchard Valley Regional Cancer Center (BVRCC), 15990 Medical Drive South, Findlay, will be hosting three American Cancer Society Look Good Feel Better events throughout the remainder of 2012 on August 6, October 1 and December 3 from 3:15 to 5:15 p.m. in the BVRCC family room. Registration is required by calling the American Cancer Society at 1.800.227.2345. This toll-free number is answered 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
2012 - 2013 HUNTING WITH PERMISSION LOTTERY DRAWING CANCELLED & AREA CLOSED
Due to damage that was sustained the annual Hunting with Permission Lottery, conducted by the Hancock Park District and held in cooperation with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife, has been cancelled for the 2012-2013 hunting season and the Litzenberg, Heritage Trail area has also been closed to everyone for all outdoor activities until April 1, 2013. The mandatory meeting and lottery for interested Hancock County residents and land owners was scheduled to take place Thursday, August 2 inside the Activity Barn at Litzenberg Memorial Woods at 7 PM. The HPD apologizes for any inconvenience.
Garden Series: Soap Making: A Diller Family Legacy
Have you ever wondered how to make soap? Pete Diller of Diller Farms will have a presentation on how soaps, lotions, and salves are made from his family's treasured recipes. This is an adult program. The program will take place at the Litzenberg Memorial Woods Activity Barn on Tuesday, August 7 at 7:00pm. OWLS PROGRAM AND FULL STURGEON MOON HIKE
Join us for a live owl presentation, and then we'll hit the trails of Riverbend to see if we can find any outside! The Owls program and Full Sturgeon Moon Hike will take place on Wednesday, August 1. Meet at 8pm at the Brugeman Lodge located within Riverbend Recreation Area. Diane Myers of the Black Swamp Raptor Rehab, will be presenting a program with her live owls. Great for families and those of all ages. Join us for a full moon hike after the owls program. Blanchard Valley Hospital to Host American Cancer Society Cancer Prevention Study Enrollment
Blanchard Valley Hospital has partnered with the American Cancer Society to offer area residents an opportunity to change the face of cancer for future generations by participating in the American Cancer Society's Cancer Prevention Study-3 (CPS-3). Enrollment days will be held Thursday, August 2 from 2 to 7:30 p.m. and Friday, August 3 from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the conference rooms in the Donnell Pavilion at Blanchard Valley Hospital. Transitional Work Grant Program
The Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation (BWC) is now accepting applications for a new grant program designed to assist employers in developing transitional work programs that return employees to work or keep them working in some capacity following a workplace injury. The Transitional Work Grant Program provides funds for employers to design programs that personalize job accommodations for a specified time period to gradually return injured workers to their original jobs. Monday, August 6 the Hancock Park District will offer "Discovery Story: Monarch Come Play with Me" at 10 AM, 1 PM and 7 PM at the Discovery Center in Oakwoods Nature Preserve.
