Blanchard Valley Hospital to Host American Cancer Society Cancer Prevention Study Enrollment
Blanchard Valley Hospital has partnered with the American Cancer Society to offer area residents an opportunity to change the face of cancer for future generations by participating in the American Cancer Society's Cancer Prevention Study-3 (CPS-3). Enrollment days will be held Thursday, August 2 from 2 to 7:30 p.m. and Friday, August 3 from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the conference rooms in the Donnell Pavilion at Blanchard Valley Hospital. FREE SUMMER YOGA SERIES OFFERED IN THE PARKS
Melinda Williams from Open Circle Yoga and Wellness Center will offer a free one hour yoga class at 8:30am at Riverbend Recreation Area. All skill levels welcome, with no experience necessary. HPD OFFERS CANOEING ADVENTURE DAY FOR YOUTH
Youth, ages 12-16 years old, can enjoy a day of canoeing fun on Friday, July 13, from 9am - 3pm. Participants should meet at the Waterfalls Pavilion at Riverside Park. Bridge Hospice to Offer Writing Through Grief Workshop
Bridge Bereavement Services is offering a "Writing Through Grief" workshop for those grieving the current or past death of a loved one. The workshop will be held Monday, July 16 and Monday, July 23 from 6 to 7 p.m. at Van Buren State Park, 12259 Township Road 218, Van Buren.
Through this event, participants will use various writing techniques to investigate, express and process grief. No previous writing experience is needed and journals will be provided.

Hike with Program Assistant Chris Allen and learn where to look for those illusive butterfly caterpillars Saturday, July 14. Monarch Butterflies and More!
Sunday, July 15 bring the entire family to the "Doc" Phillips Discovery Center in Oakwoods Nature Preserve to join Program Assistant Chris Allen as she conducts afternoon activities to learn about Monarch butterflies and more from 1-4 pm. Children can enjoy a story at 1:30 pm, play in caterpillar and butterfly tunnels, build a caterpillar a model, try wings and a caterpillar costume on, and make a butterfly craft for all ages. Good Samaritan Society - Arlington to host its first ever Good Sam Slam Golf Outing
Good Sam Slam Golf Outing will be on Sunday, July 22 at Sycamore Springs Golf Course. Registration starts at 7 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. which includes 18 holes of golf, golf cart and lunch. Team registration is $300 and individual players are $75. Wee Ones: Marvelous Mud!
Marvelous Mud will be held on Monday, July 16 at 10am, 1pm or 7pm. Wee Ones programs are recommended for children three and under with an adult companion. Other aged siblings are welcome. Suggested items to bring: swim diaper, change of clothes, towel, etc. Program includes a story, activities and a craft all about mud. Beekeeping
Join beekeeper, Dwight Wilson, as he tells you the ins and outs of beekeeping and why bees are important on Tuesday, July 17 at 7pm at the Oakwoods' Discovery Center. Participants are recommended to be ages 6 and up. No fee, but register by Friday, July 13. Traveling Tribute Headed to Findlay:
July 11th will bring approximately 12,000 bikes through Findlay, traveling with an 80% replica of the Vietnam Wall as well as a 9/11 tributes, and Operations Iraq/ Enduring Freedom tribute. The event is called "American Veteran Traveling Tribute." This event is estimated to last 3 hours and will begin at 4:15pm, leaving from The CUBE on North Main Street in Findlay. This event has been coordinated with the City of Findlay Police Deparment, Ohio Department of Transportation, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol. This was last done in 2005 and traveled from Beaverdam to Upper Sandusky.
The Hancock County Department of Job & Family Services announces Disaster Services
The Hancock County Department of Job & Family Services announces Disaster Services for residents of Hancock County affected by the wind storm of June 29, 2012. Funds may be used for emergency shelter, home repair, vehicle repair, insurance deductibles, items to be used in the clean-up and short term help with food. Applications are available until August 2, 2012, contingent upon funding, at the Hancock County Department of Job & Family Services office located at 7814 County Road 140, Findlay. As part of their 76th consecutive year of touring the USA, Carson & Barnes Circus, the largest traveling big top tent circus in America will visit UPPER SANDUSKY on FRIDAY, JULY 12, 2012 to present two shows at 4:30pm and 7:30pm at the WYANDOT COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS. YOUTHEATRE PERFORMING ARTS CAMP PRESENTS THE FAMILY-FRIENDLY MUSICAL, JACK AND THE BEANSTALK
The Arts Partnership of Greater Hancock County invites you to attend Youtheatre's Summer Performing Arts Camp production of Jack and the Beanstalk. Findlay Young Professionals Hosting Nine and Dine Golf Event
The Connect Committee of the Findlay Young Professionals is hosting "FYP Nine and Dine" on Wednesday, July 25 at the Findlay Country Club, 1500 Country Club Drive. All participants will play 9 holes of golf with a shotgun start. Hors d'oeuvres and hole prizes will follow after the round. The event registration begins at 5:15 p.m. with the event start at 5:30 p.m. A "happy half-hour" will be held from 7:45 to 8:15 p.m. in the Hancock Room. Cost is $40 for Findlay Young Professional members and $50 for non-members. Hancock County Center for Safety & Health Children Bike Run
There will be a benefit on Saturday, Aug. 11th at The Moose Lodge, 1028 W. Main Cross St., Findlay. Bike Run starts at 12:30pm, Raffle at 7:30pm and from 4:00-8:00pm, there will be door prizes, food and music performed by Rock & Roll Outlaws.
The Summer Sky
The Millstream Astronomy Club will be showing a dvd about the summer sky on Saturday, July 21. Afterwards, Club members will have a question and answer session. Bring the whole family to Shelter #5 at Riverbend Recreation Area at 9pm. Public viewing after the program as long as conditions are favorable. KAY GNAGEY TO SPEAK ON FOUNDATIONS OF LADIES FASHION IN 19th CENTURY
Join guest speaker Kay Gnagey, a leading authority on historical fashions, as she discusses the true reasons behind why woman wore hoops, corsets, and bustles in the Victorian era. Guests will have the unique opportunity to see and try out some of the undergarments for themselves!

RED CROSS HOSTING DISCUSSION ON POST TRAUMATIC STRESS SUPPORT
Post Traumatic Stress is a serious, distressing and often overwhelming condition that many veterans deal with every day. Currently, there is no active support system specifically targeting this issue in our community. That will soon change.
