The Findlay-Hancock County Community Foundation has announced that tickets are now available to hear Lisa Genova, author of the best-selling novel Still Alice. Genova will be in Findlay on Friday, March 2, 2012 as part of the tenth annual CommunityREAD event. Winter Dweller's Celebration
The Voyageurs, confined to their winter camps, became known as "Winter Dwellers" during that time, as they passed the time telling stories, singing songs and dancing. Come along with Genot "Winter Elk" Picor in "Stories, Songs and Dances of the Hivernaut: The Winter Dweller's Celebration" as he brings frontier history alive during this interactive program. Wee Ones: Colors
Come see what colors we can find in nature at this month's Wee Ones program hosted by the Hancock Park District. Two programs will be offered Monday, February 27, at 10am & 1pm inside the Discovery Center in Oakwoods Nature Preserve. Recommended for children three years old and under with an adult companion. Program includes a story and activities all about colors. Participants will be making a rainbow from hand tracings. Goodwill-Dell Partnership Enters Fifth Year of Free Computer Recycling
Today marks the fourth anniversary of Reconnect, Goodwill's free drop-off program to recycle unwanted computer hardware. Launched in 2008 by Dell and Goodwill Industries of Northwest Ohio, Reconnect has kept 1,066,743 pounds of used computers and computer equipment out of landfills. That's 533 tons of recycled material! Smart Hearts Meeting Set for February 27
Smart Hearts, a heart health education and support group, will hold a meeting Monday, February 27 beginning at 12:15 p.m. in the Ruse Boardroom located on the second floor of the Ruse Center at Blanchard Valley Hospital. BVH Auxiliary to Hold Annual Prom Dress Collection and Distribution
The Blanchard Valley Hospital Auxiliary's Nearly New Shop is accepting donations for their annual prom dress distribution. Items accepted include dresses, shoes and accessories.
The items can be dropped off at the Nearly New Shop, 306 Lima Avenue, through March 13. After March 13, the dresses, shoes and accessories will be available free of charge to any area teen needing items for prom. One dress per girl will be provided.
