Findlay Downtown Coordinator Hired

Marsha Steffan Will Fill New Position

SteffanThe Findlay·Hancock County Alliance, The Findlay Downtown Area Association (FDAA) and the Downtown Findlay Improvement District (DFID) have announced that Marsha Steffan has been hired as the Findlay Downtown Coordinator.

"I'm looking forward to seeing Findlay's downtown grow and develop in the coming months as we initiate the national Main Street program", said Steffan.  "With so many local groups working together to create a positive impact in our downtown, I envision some great opportunities in store for our community, and I can't wait to watch them take shape."

A newly-formed position, Steffan's duties will include managing downtown Findlay's role in Ohio's Emerging Main Street Program, a way-finding signage project, downtown beautification and preservation and the coordination of other Main Street activities focused on creating a vibrant, healthy and safe downtown. The FDAA, DFID and the Alliance have worked together to create the position, and provide Steffan's compensation, office space and administrative services.

"This is a big step toward completing our vision for Findlay's downtown," said Steve Roepke, President of the FDAA. "We've seen a lot of progress already, but having someone dedicated to our downtown and its programs will give us a huge boost."

A 2009 graduate of Bowling Green State University, Steffan is LEED Applied Professional, holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Interior Design, and is currently pursuing a graduate degree in both Interior Design and Historic Preservation at Eastern Michigan University. Steffan has worked with Colorado Preservation, Inc. as a part of their endangered places program, at Eastern Michigan University as a graduate assistant, and is also employed at The RightThing as a Client Relationship Manager.

"We are excited to have Marsha on board," said Chamber of Commerce director, Dionne Neubauer. "Her knowledge and experience will be a great asset to our downtown and its programs, and she truly has a passion for what she does."

Steffan will be housed at the Findlay·Hancock County Alliance offices at 123 E. Main Cross Street. To contact her, call 419.422.3313, or email coordinator@FindlayDowntown.com.

"Steffan's work will mean a lot to all of Findlay and Hancock County," Said Mike Mallett, President of DFID. "A healthy downtown is a reflection of a healthy community, and we look forward to the progress we will see in the coming years."
