FALL HAYRIDES OFFERED AT RIVERBEND
Group reservations for antique tractor drawn hayrides at Riverbend Recreation Area are now being taken on a first come, first serve basis at the Hancock Park District office. Hour-long rides will be conducted September 17 through October 31. A complete listing of hayride rules and information are available upon request at the park district office or can be downloaded at www.HancockParks.com. NEW OAKWOODS PARKING LOT CLOSED FOR IMPROVEMENTS
A newly constructed stone parking lot and service drive at Oakwoods Nature Preserve, located in Oakwoods Nature Preserve at 1400 Oakwoods Drive, will be closed to the general public beginning Wednesday, August 18 until late September. Any additional information regarding the improvement project or the nature preserve can be obtained by contacting the HPD office, located at 1424 East Main Cross St., Findlay, or by calling 419-425-PARK/7275.
Whirlpool Findlay Donates Lots and Employees To Build A Home In Seven Days
The 2010 Whirlpool® Building Blocks program with Habitat for Humanity is underway and coming to Findlay in September. In partnership with Findlay/Hancock County Habitat for Humanity - which is currently celebrating its 10th anniversary - and Habitat for Humanity International, Whirlpool Corporation's Findlay Division continues its commitment to the community by helping a local family achieve their dream of homeownership this year. The Findlay blitz build kicks off on September 25 and will wrap on October 2.
United Way Breakfast Fundraiser Planned by Birchaven Village Chef
Birchaven Village Chef Tim Cooper will serve breakfast to benefit the United Way of Hancock County August 24, September 7 and September 21 from 7 to 10 a.m. at Birchaven Village.
Cost of the breakfast is $6.50 per person, which is payable by cash or check at the door. Both carry out and dine in meals are available. No reservation is needed. All proceeds will be donated to the United Way of Hancock County.
BVH Offers Test to Determine Genetic Probability of Breast Cancer
Blanchard Valley Hospital's Woman Wise mammography department has partnered with Myriad Genetics to offer a test to determine risk for hereditary breast and ovarian cancer. This new test is called the BRACAnalysis®. The Myriad laboratory is the only lab in the nation that is able to perform that BRACAnalysis®. This test is covered by most insurances.

International Art Show to Stop at Blanchard Valley Regional Cancer Center
The Lilly Oncology International Art Competition and Exhibition will make a six-day stop at the Blanchard Valley Regional Cancer Center (BVRCC) from August 18 through August 25.
The show will be open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. August 18, 19, 22, 23 and 24, and 8 a.m. to noon on August 25. It is free and open to the public. For more information, call the Blanchard Valley Regional Cancer Center at 419-423-3703.

RED CROSS REGISTERING VETERANS FOR YELLOW RIBBON CEREMONY
The American Red Cross Armed Forces Family Network is sponsoring a Yellow Ribbon Ceremony to honor veterans of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) on Sunday, September 11, 2011. Bluffton Hospital's New Emergency Department Now Open
Bluffton Hospital is now treating patients in its new Emergency Department. Those seeking care from the Emergency Department can enter through the ER entrance on the corner of Harmon and Kibler Streets. The newly opened ER will allow Bluffton Hospital to care for an increasing number of patients with more private treatment areas than the previous ER space. It also features a more private registration area.
RIDERS REV ENGINES TO SUPPORT RED CROSS
The American Red Cross is planning the first Ride For The Red motorcycle ride in Wyandot and Hancock counties on Saturday, September 17. The ride starts at Thiel's Wheels in Upper Sandusky and ends at the Red Cross B*A*S*H at the Hancock County Fairgrounds in Findlay.
The Ride For The Red is a fun way we can get involved and make sure the Red Cross has the resources they need to protect our communities." American Red Cross Tips Help Kids Stay Safe When Home Alone Develop and Practice Plan to Ensure Safety after School
As children around the nation are returning to school, many of them will be spending time home alone after school until their parents get home from work. The American Red Cross has steps parents and children can take to make these after-school hours safer and less stressful.

Many tweens and teens are responsible for watching younger siblings. The Red Cross Babysitter's Training course provides 11 to 15 year-olds with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly provide care for children and infants.
