Friends supports the City of Hope Campaign by donating $1000 to the City of Hope FoundationOn August 16, employees of Friends Business Source organized a raffle of which proceeds went to benefit The City of Hope Foundation, a national medical center and research institution. Friends drivers, machine technicians, sales personnel, customer service representatives, accountants and even their loyal receptionist offered raffle tickets to customers, friends and family members in order to raise money for The City of Hope Foundation's National Power of Hope Campaign. Winners were chosen on September 1 and their locations spanned from Toledo through Findlay and southeast to Columbus. Ken Schroeder, CEO and President of Friends, selected this opportunity with passion. Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs Hosts Annual Dinner & Art AuctionOn Saturday, October 23, the Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs is hosting its 2nd Annual Dinner & Art Auction as a fund-raiser for the organization (501c3). The doors open at 6:00 with a cash bar and complimentary appetizers with dinner being served at 7:00. Immediately following dinner we'll be auctioning over 25 juried pieces of art (photos, watercolors, oils, and sculptures) from local Northwest Ohio artists. Tickets for the event are $50 per person or $300 for a table of 8 (which includes a prominent sign acknowledging the table sponsor). We are also soliciting corporations to commit to purchasing at least one piece of art for prominent public display in their business offices. Corporate displays of art are considered very significant "resume builders" for artists, so a commitment to purchase and display the art increases the quantity and quality of the art we are able to draw to the event. And for a third method of supporting this event, companies or individuals are being asked to commit to Matching the Gavel Price of individual or groups of pieces of the art as a direct donation to BCE. Such "matches" increase the bidding on art and creates an especially positive impact for BCE. For perspective, gavel prices at last year's auction ranged from $30 to $430 with the majority of pieces sold below $100.
