Downtown Update: Bridge to Close for 3 Months As printed by The Courier Wednesday, April 1, 2009
The
Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway bridge will be closed for three months
beginning next Wednesday for a $900,000 rehabilitation project,
according to Findlay Engineer Brian Hurt.
The bridge will be closed beginning at 9 a.m. on April 8.
Hurt said detour signs will be posted by the end of this week.
The
bridge, which spans the Blanchard River from East Main Cross Street to
Blanchard Street, was built in 1978. Motorists will be able to use other streets to cross the river, such as East Main Cross Street to Blanchard.
Hurt
said the city will work with the Downtown Findlay Improvement District
on closure and detour signs so as not to deter business from downtown.
Work will be done by Vernon Nagel, Inc. from Napoleon. |
