Halloween Parade Includes Community Food Drive
|
The 2008 Halloween Parade is coming to downtown Findlay on Tuesday,
October 28 at 7 p.m. The Hancock Leadership Alumni Association (HLAA) is
organizing this year's parade. A new addition to the annual Halloween Parade
this year will be a food collection drive.
For the first time, the parade will be an event that brings
our community together in celebration and an opportunity for neighbors to share
their harvest bounty with those in need.
HLAA is pleased to announce the first Fall Harvest Food Drive in
conjunction with the annual Halloween Parade.
HLAA will provide a float during the parade to collect
non-perishable food items from participants and attendees who wish to donate. Donations
will be collected prior to and during the parade by HLAA representatives along
the route. For organizations or groups that wish to collect food prior to the
event in support of this effort, the HLAA float will be available in the Marathon parking lot during staging to the event to
accept group donations.
The items collected during the parade will be distributed at
a mobile food pantry on Saturday, November 1 at Evangelical Free Church.
For more information on the parade and parade participation,
visit www.greaterfindlayinc.com, or request a packet by e-mailing your name and

Social & Human Service Agencies Request Survey Participation Presented by the Findlay-Hancock County Community Foundation, Hancock County Alcohol, Drug Addiction, and
Mental Health Services Board and United Way of Hancock County
|
Over the past few years local stakeholders and service
delivery agencies have come together to discuss ways in which the social and
human service delivery systems serving Hancock County can improve services and
can more effectively improve the quality of life for all of the residents. This
effort has led to the development of several goals or outcomes that, if
achieved, would move our community forward.
In order to achieve these goals, timely data on critical
indicators is needed so that they can do the following:
- Have a reliable base of information on key community indicators
that will show us where we stand today
- Monitor progress or change with regards to those indicators in
order to guide our program development, service delivery, and policy
development, and
- Improve accountability to our community and our
founders
With this in mind, the
Findlay-Hancock County Community Foundation, Hancock County Alcohol, Drug Addiction, and
Mental Health Services Board and United Way of Hancock County have
undertaken a collaborative project to develop a Community Indicator Website.
They have contracted with The University of Toledo Urban Affairs Center and The
University of Toledo Center for Creative Instruction to help identify
indicators, assemble data, and develop a website. The first task in that effort
is to learn what the potential users of the site would find useful and to
identify the specific indicators they should use to measure the progress to
meeting the goals.
Please complete the online survey to help determine what
indicators should be used, sources of data, and best program practices. Three
simple steps to complete the online survey:
- Click on the
Surveys Link (on menu on right side of screen)
- Click on
Hancock County Survey
The survey will be available from through October 14, 2008.
Questions or comments can be referred to the agencies listed above.
