The North Central Jurisdictional Conference has approved the assignment of Bishop Hee-Soo Jung to serve the Wisconsin Conference of the United Methodist Church.

Bishop Jung was elected to the episcopacy in 2004 by the North Central Jurisdictional Conference.

He has served congregations in Wisconsin, California, and Texas since 1982, and has served as Nicolet District Superintendent of the Wisconsin Annual Conference His passionate leadership has been focused on Korean-American Churches and cross-racial appointments in urban, rural and suburban churches.

His passion for making disciples for Christ was instrumental in the NIC's Harvest 2020 movement. Since 2009, nearly 30 new faith communities have launched and grown under Harvest 2020 with more than 2,000 new people attending worship.

We celebrate Bishop Jung's eight years of ministry and service to the Northern Illinois Conference.

Bishop Sally Dyck

Bishop Sally Dyck of the Minnesota Annual Conference has been assigned to the Northern Illinois Conference - Chicago Episcopal Area.

Sally Dyck was born in Ritzville, Washington. She was born into a Mennonite family and joined the United Methodist Church as a young adult.

She graduated magna cum laude from Boston University College of Liberal Arts with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science. She graduated magna cum laude from Boston University School of Theology. She received a certificate from the Ecumenical Institute which is a joint program of the World Council of Churches and the University of Geneva, Switzerland. She was ordained in the East Ohio Annual Conference. She also received a Doctor of Ministry from United Theological School, Dayton, OH, in Black Church Studies as a Bishop James S. Thomas fellow.

Sally's personal mission statement is taken from the communion liturgy: "...one in Christ, one with each other, and one in ministry to the world." Throughout her ministry in and near the Cleveland, Ohio area, her mission was to reach out to persons who for various reasons did not see themselves as "belonging" to Christ, a worshiping community, or having a witness or ministry of their own. She served the communities and the churches of Faith (1978-1984), Church of the Redeemer (1984-1997), and Garfield Memorial (2003-2004). She also served as a district superintendent (1997-2003) in the Wooster area.

Sally served as a director of the Board of Global Ministries (1999-2004), chairing the Personnel Committee. She was a jurisdictional delegate six times and a General Conference delegate four times. In February 2006 she was elected to the Central Committee of the World Council of Churches. Throughout her service in the wider church, her mission has been to direct and empower the church to transform the world through its calling and witness. In addition, the spiritual disciplines of the Christian tradition are a vital grounding to her faith.

Sally was elected to the episcopacy in Davenport, Iowa, in 2004 and assigned to the Minnesota Annual Conference. She seeks to be the bishop to the nones (those persons who check "none" when asked their religious preference). She begins her day with prayer, Bible study, and a 3-6 mile run through the cathedral of nature.

Ken Ehrman and Sally Dyck met in Boston and were married on May 15, 1976.

The Episcopal assignments will be effective beginning September 1, 2012.
