North Central Jurisdictional Conference
July 18-20

north central jurisdictional conferenceDelegates will meet in Akron, Ohio from July 18-20 for the North Central Jurisdictional Conference which includes the Northern Illinois Conference.

The theme of this year's conference is "Moving Forward in Christ...Where the Rubber Meets the Road."  The Rubber City seemed the perfect setting to place our soles, and souls, on the path of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

The North Central Jurisdiction will retire one bishop but will not hold an election to replace her as the number of episcopal areas will shrink by one with the merging of the Dakotas and Minnesota into one episcopal area. Delegates in three of the U.S.'s five jurisdictions will elect 11 and possibly 12 new U.S. bishops in regional conferences held simultaneously July 18-21.

The North Central Jurisdictional conference will be streamed live. Daily recaps, features and photos will also be posted on the NCJ website. Click here for more information.

Summer Mission Trips

Twenty Nine members of the Cary United Methodist worked on the Rosebud Indian Reservation, South Dakota for a week from June 16 to 23. Youth and adults had a chance to work in a variety of areas including repairing homes, making clothes, and working with youth and the elderly.

"It is a rewarding experience and allows us to give back to the native people who once owned the land we live on now," said Kurt Moreland, assistant trip planner.

The group worked through the Tree of Life Ministry, which coordinates mission trips to the reservation and is sponsored by the Dakotas Conference of the United Methodist Church.
