Annual Conference will Convene June 6-9, 2012

Northern Illinois Conference will gather at Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles, IL on June 6-9, 2012. During these days, we will Celebrate God's Amazing Work. We will participate in legislative sessions, bible study, worship, and ordination. Come join us.

On-line conference registration opened April 9. Click here. The cost is $56 until May 13. Beginning May 14 the cost will be $75. All online and mail-in registrations must be complete (to the office by May 28). On-site registration will take place in the lobby of the Mega Center.

Mail-in forms are available from the website, www.umcnic.org/AC2012 or can be obtained by calling the Annual Conference Help-line at 847-931-0710 Ext. 19 or e-mailing acregistrar@umcnic.org.

A block of rooms at Pheasant Run has been reserved. Call 630-584-6300 before May 5 and mention you are part of the Northern Illinois Conference of the United Methodist Church. The cost including tax is the special negotiated rate of $113.22.

Session for Youth on Saturday

All youth [Grade 6 - High School] are invited to participate in the Annual Conference Youth Worship, Conference Presentation and Youth Session on Saturday, June 9, from 8:45am - 1:00pm.

A planning session will be held on Saturday, April 21 at Community UMC in Naperville at 10:45am.

Volunteers Welcomed

Help is needed to make Annual Conference move smoothly. If you are interested in serving as a volunteer for a day or part of a day at annual conference contact one of the following: To serve as a volunteer, contact Mark Manzi by email: mmanzi@sbcglobal.net.

Celebrate Bishop Jung's Ministry

Join lay and clergy from across the conference as we gather to celebrate the ministry and leadership of Bishop Hee-Soo Jung as he completes his second four year term with the Northern Illinois Conference.

The celebration begins with a banquet feast on Friday evening, followed by a program of music, remembrances, and more. Persons may join the program without purchasing the banquet meal, but be sure to indicate on your registration that you plan to attend the program only. The event will be held in the St. Charles Ballroom. Purchase tickets in advance they will not be available on-site.

Meals at Annual Conference

Many groups will be sponsoring meals throughout Annual Conference. We encourage you to attend any of these to celebrate and learn more about their ministries.

May 28 is the last day to reserve a meal ticket --They will NOT be sold on- site. Buffet meals will also be served at every meal time. Click here for more information.

Child Care

Infant and childcare for ages 0-6 will be available in the Gallery Meeting area on the west end of Pheasant Run.

A Kids Kamp program will be provided for children entering grade 2 and older in other rooms in the Gallery Meeting area.

Both programs will be led by the Outdoor & Retreat Ministries summer camp staff. Children and youth will participate in many activities including swimming, hiking, games and crafts. Participants will eat lunch in day camp. Breakfast and dinner will be eaten with their parents/ guardians.

Cost: $35 per child per day. Max. $70 per family per day.

Signup for these options when you make your NIC registration on-line or by using the mail-in form. You will be sent release forms which must be turned in before your child begins in either program. Forms can also be downloaded from the website www.umcnic.org/AC2012.

Donations Being Collected

CWS Needs Kits

The Mission Truck will pick up completed kits and monetary donations on Wed. and Thur. Completed kits, not bulk items, are requested. Church World Service (the CropWalk organizers) will be receiving the hygiene kits, school kits, baby care kits, and emergency clean-up buckets for distribution. Click here for details.

Bring a Backpack

The Northern Illinois Conference will be collecting new backpacks to be distributed to school children on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at the conference-wide Seeds to Succeed back to school fest! Look for the Seeds to Succeed display table for a collection bin and more information on how your church can get involved.
