National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness and Information Day  - Feb. 7

We are asking all congregations to work to overcome attitudinal and behavioral barriers in the church and the community that creates stigma and discrimination of persons with HIV/AIDS and their loved ones.

UMW Silent Vigil

The Northern Illinois Conference United Methodist Women held a silent vigil to support those imprisoned by human trafficking on Monday, January 30, 2012 at the Daley Center Plaza in Chicago.  Human trafficking is a form of modern-day slavery and is the second largest criminal industry in the world after drug trade. The Stop Human Trafficking Vigil was attended by approximately 30 people from across the conference. Read more>>

Church World Service and CROP Leadership Day 2012

 

All are invited to this training and idea-sharing day for CROP Hunger Walk leaders and Church World Service enthusiasts on Saturday, February 18 from 8:30am to 3:15pm.
 
We will explore the theme of development, both abroad and in our own communities as we develop awareness and energy around fighting hunger through CROP Hunger Walks.

2012 Annual Conference- Submission Deadline

Annual Conference 2012The 2012 Northern Illinois Annual Conference opens on June 6 in the Mega Center at Pheasant Run in St. Charles, Illinois. This year's theme, Celebrate God's Amazing Work, features engaging bible study and exciting opportunities to learn about our global mission as a church.


In order to facilitate the work of the annual conference when we gather, several items must be submitted to both Rev. Lora Zink and Rev. Daniel Diss no later than close of business
(5 p.m.) on Thursday, March 1, 2012. Items needs include: legislative documents, historical reports, requests for presentation time during the plenary sessions, and notification of awards to be published in the awards booklet.

Those presenting at Annual Conference are strongly encouraged to attend a seminar on Saturday, Mar. 17 from 1pm-2:30pm at the Elgin Program office at 217 Division St., Elgin to learn the do's and don'ts of making a presentation which will pop! Click here for registration and more information.
