NIC Apportionments to be Paid in Full
|
The Northern Illinois Conference Council on Finance and Administration (CCFA) will be paying 100% of the general church apportionments, some $2,068,878.
The ability to pay the general church apportionment in full is made possible by the faithful participation of the local churches of the northern Illinois conference - many of whom have made apportionment offerings of great sacrifice and after considerable effort. 15 additional churches were able to pay 100% of their local church apportionment in 2011 from 2010. Click here for the church list.
The decision to pay in full was unanimous among the committee members, even though the final apportionment receipts are unknown - the final checks have yet to be received. It may be necessary to use up to 131,000 in reserve funds in order to make the full payment. But CCFA wants to be faithful to the connection in their responsibilities and wants to act by the same standards applied to local churches in the conference. Click here to read the full article>>

National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness and Information Day - Feb. 7
|
We are asking all congregations to work to overcome attitudinal and behavioral barriers in the church and the community that creates stigma and discrimination of persons with HIV/AIDS and their loved ones.
The profound and radical teachings of Jesus and the convictions of John Wesley to be in ministry with the poor and suffering, compel the church to be vocal, not silent, in the midst of the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Matthew 25: 31-46 calls us to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, give water to those who thirst and comfort to those who suffer. We see that mandate played out throughout Jesus' life, and we are called to do no less.
Please observe this day by sharing information, resources and testing with your congregation and community.
Irma Clark,
NIC HIV/AIDS Task Force Ambassador
