Christmas Offering for a Good Cause

The counters on Christmas Eve at First UMC of DeKalb were elated when they tallied up the offering - more than $14,000 was collected! The offering plate overflowed with generosity this special night. "This church is so giving, this is was Christmas is all about."

At a time when churches rely heavily on this end of year offering to help ease strained budgets, First UMC gave all the money to three social service agencies in the DeKalb community including; the Salvation Army local food pantry, Hope Haven, which helps homeless individuals and families with transitional living, and Safe Passage, a shelter for battered women.  Read the full story>>
