About 450 K-12 students received free school supplies and health checks at Wesley United Methodist Church in Aurora on Aug. 13.
Wesley, Bethany and Fourth Street UMC churches in Aurora partnered in the fifth annual event. About 40 volunteers from the churches distributed supplies.
Rev. Juancho Campanano, Wesley UMC pastor, said the giveaway and health fair is organized by Aurora churches and businesses that care about the education and health of local children. "This is a community effort to give necessary school supplies and health checkups to students that could not otherwise afford them," Campanano said.
