Learn & Serve Bus Trip

Are you looking for a short-term, hands-on, educational mission
trip? If so, please join the Learn and Serve Bus Trip sponsored by the Illinois Region of Church World Service (CWS). This October 30-November 3, 2011 trip will take participants to the CWS Kit and Blanket, and SERRV fair trade warehouse in New Windsor, MD for three days of volunteering. Participants will learn how CWS works with other agencies, like UMCOR, to respond in times of disaster, and how CWS' development work enables people to lift themselves out of poverty. After being a part of these efforts through working with materials in the warehouses, the group will enjoy time in Gettysburg, PA. Classes are taught by authorized UMCOR trainers, and team members are given ID badges as evidence of training. UMCOR Staff will teach us the why, when and how of responding to disasters in our local communities as well as elsewhere in the US and globally.

UMF 2012 Grant Program

The United Methodist Foundation announces its 2012 grants program!
The Foundation's grants program offers encouragement to local churches and church-related agencies as they develop new or expanded creative ministries by offering grants of $500 - $3,000.
A total of more than $600,000 to almost 200 ministries has been allocated since the program's inception in 1999.

The Justice for Our Neighbors Clinic offers free high-quality immigration legal services. There are opportunities for more volunteers either individuals or a group from a local church. A volunteer training session conducted by representatives from the General Board of Global Ministries will be held on Friday, August 5, 2011 from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM. Missouri Conference Youth Help in a Heatwave at Marcy-Newberry Despite the record-breaking heat, 170 youth and adults from the Missouri Conference are spending this week at the Marcy-Newberry Association's site on Maxwell street cleaning, painting, weeding, planting and trying to stay cool! The volunteers from 11 churches across Missouri traveled to Chicago by bus for their annual conference-wide youth mission trip.
