As Another Leaves

February 9-17, 2011 a Team went to serve in Haiti. "One can look at the country and see all the devastation, poverty and health issues they face daily. But the Haitian people showed us a different Haiti, one that provides them with a future, with a reason to go on, one step at a time." Read more about this mission trip to Haiti
March 16-24, 2011, a team of 7 will be serving in Banique, Haiti. Through the UMVIM, this cross-conference team is scheduled to help rebuild a school and a security wall. Read more... |

Spanishtown is a 5 day immersion experience in Spanish language and culture. Participants can develop confidence in speaking and understanding Spanish, friendships with native speakers, and leadership training for Latino/Hispanic ministry. | One Great Hour of Sharing (April 3, 2011) is one of the six churchwide Special Sundays with offerings of The United Methodist Church. One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS) enables the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) to live out its mission to alleviate human suffering. UMCOR is the humanitarian arm of The United Methodist Church.

Bishop Hee-Soo Jung, Episcopal leader for the Northern Illinois conference is proud to announce the appointment of two new District Superintendents to the Northern Illinois Cabinet effective July 1st, 2011. Reverend Tracy Smith Malone, currently serving as Senior Pastor at Wheaton: Gary Memorial will assume the position of Chicago Southern District Superintendent and Reverend Richard Wisdom, currently serving as Senior Pastor at Rockford: Christ will assume the position of DeKalb District Superintendent. Help Maintain Funding to Support Refugees
| Illinois religious leaders have been asked to sign on to a letter to Senator Mark Kirk to keep funding migrant and refugee services throughout the globe. Senator Kirk sits on the committees that are now debating this appropriation. You are not asked to send your own letter but to sign on to this one. To add your name to the list, please e-mail Michael Mann (mmann@umcnic.org) with your name, title, church name, and city of the church. Names will be submitted at 10am on Friday, March 11th.
