After a candidate search that attracted qualified applicants from across the country and within the conference, the Northern Illinois Conference announces that Rev. Michael Mann has been selected as the Associate Director of Mission and Advocacy. Beginning July 1, Rev. Mann will provide direction and leadership for missions and advocacy ministries throughout the conference.

Rev. Mann said, "I am humbled to have been chosen for this work.  It is a great honor for me to be able to organize teams to do the work of mission, advocacy, and witness.  In my work, I have seen that God's mission is part of who we are, not a small project we do.  Together, we aim to see God's mission accomplished through our work, our voice, and our witness."

According to Rev. Chris Pierson, Director of Connectional Ministries, "There were many highly qualified candidates among the applicants, and we were pleased to have so many who showed an interest not only in this position but were also drawn to serving in the Northern Illinois Conference because of our commitment to local and global mission. We were especially pleased that Michael Mann discerned God calling him to this particular ministry at this particular time."

Bishop Hee-Soo Jung said, "Michael Mann is an energetic clergy leader who has demonstrated his exceptional abilities in many settings. We are blessed to have him step into this challenging new role in a vital time. With Michael's leadership, we continue to live out our core value to be outwardly-focused disciples."

For the past seven years, Rev. Mann has served churches in the Rockford and DeKalb districts, including Rockford: Court Street (Associate) and Hinckley: First (Pastor).  He has provided leadership in the conference through his work as chair of the Latino Ministry Center Advisory Board, secretary of the Episcopacy Committee, and co-chair of the Immigration Task Force.  He has presented at Annual Conference on numerous occasions.  Last year he presented about a legal aid initiative known as Justice For Our Neighbors (JFON) and also about the Latino Ministry Center.

Rev. Mann is a graduate of Samford University and Princeton Theological Seminary and will be completing his Masters of Business Administration this fall at Northern Illinois University.
