Easter Message from Bishop Hee-Soo Jung

When we greet the sunrise on Easter morning and encounter the empty tomb, the story of our faith changes. The resurrection takes center stage in our Christian journey.

In the resurrection, we receive the grace of God's love. We know freedom from sin and the assurance of salvation. In this moment, we are a people of the risen Christ. God gives us new life and calls us to commit ourselves to the work of Christ for the world today. When we accept the offer of new life in Christ, we also accept the call to emulate Christ in our lives.

Jesus came to a wounded world and offered healing. He sent the disciples to bring the message of hope to those who were hurting. Likewise, we must challenge ourselves and bring that same joy of an Easter sunrise to the troubled souls in need of God's unconditional love. When we attend to the wounded and share the joy of Jesus Christ with others, we multiply our own sense of peace.

We are blessed to serve with such faithful congregations - people who speak with an authentic voice about how Christ's love can change the world. This winter I have visited many of your churches and have seen how you dedicate yourselves in so many ways, serving in ministry with children, the poor, the sick and the afflicted. In these ministries we witness the power of the Easter resurrection and offer others that same opportunity to know the joy of Christ.

This Easter, renew your commitment to radical discipleship so we might offer hope and transform the world. May God embolden our hearts and strengthen our lives so we can make a difference for Christ's sake.

I pray that your Easter is one of blessed worship, fervent prayer, joy with family and friends and a passion for radical discipleship.

Your Brother in Christ,
Hee-Soo Jung
