ANNOUNCEMENT ABOUT HAITI HEALTH KITS

Haiti Response:
1. Thank you!
2. BULK GOODS ONLY, PLEASE DO NOT ASSEMBLE KITS

By Rev. Christina Vosteen, Disaster Coordinator

UPDATE: We are truly blessed by the generosity and prompt action of our conference! More than 20 churches have offered to collect items for people in Haiti, and the list is growing! Countless others are mobilizing for action.

One important note, as of Friday afternoon:

Our distribution center in Chatham, IL is requesting that churches collect items for Haiti health kits IN BULK. Please do not assemble individual kits, as it will delay the delivery of the materials to UMCOR staff in Haiti. Since staff at the center must inspect each kit for accuracy before shipping, it is much faster for them to assemble the kits themselves.

ITEMS TO COLLECT:

  • One-gallon sealed plastic bags
  • Hand towel (15" x 25" up to 17" x 27", No kitchen towels)
  • Washcloths
  • Combs (large and sturdy, not pocket-sized)
  • Nail file or fingernail clippers (no emery boards or toenail clippers)
  • Bath-size bar of soap (3 oz. and up)
  • Toothbrush (single brushes only in original wrapper, No child-size brushes)
  • Adhesive plastic strip sterile bandages
  • Toothpaste
