NIC opposes video poker expansion - update

By Nancy Duel

OPERATION LET THE PEOPLE DECIDE - VIDEO POKER NEEDS TO BE REPEALED

Last week's Veto Session of the Illinois General Assembly took no action on the bill to repeal Video Poker. There will be another Veto Session next week on October 28,29, and 30.  Please contact your Representative and Senator immediately, and ask them to support this bill and to consider signing on as sponsors of the bill. It needs wide support from the legislators to get the Speaker of the House to call the bill for a vote.

Also, please contact your Mayor or Village President to request that your community pass a ban on video poker. Video poker is called the "crack cocaine" of gambling because it is so addictive.  Video Poker conveniently located in neighborhood bars, restaurants, fraternal organizations and veterans clubs could be devastating to many individuals and their families.

If you need printed materials or have any questions or concerns, contact Nancy Duel at 847-259-3793 or nduel@aol.com
