Earth Day - April 23 |
 What do you do with the old VHS tapes? Why not make a purse? Or those old worn out shirts? Why not make a pillow? These are just some the examples on display in the Library window at Kingswood UMC, as they prepare to celebrate earth day.

Addressing Immigration Issues Compassionately |
A Filipino Social Justice Forum will be held at 2:00 PM, on Sunday, April 26, 2009, at Edison Park UMC. How do we learn about their issues? How do we address their issues compassionately? How are we called to respond? Francisco Ramos, Executive director of the Coalition of African, Arab, Asian, European, and Latino Immigrants of Illinois, and Jerry Clarito, Executive Director of the Alliance of Filipinos for Immigrant Rights and Empowerment (AFIRE) will talk about the human rights framework of the current immigration reform debate. Harvest 2020 Prayer Services |
 The Harvest 2020 Spiritual Formation Group invites you to an evening of prayer, meditation, music and scriptures at one of six churches around the conference. Clergy and laity will gather together to pray for the vision of Harvest 2020 as we plant new faith communities, grow healthy disciples and promote cooperation between our local churches. Conversation with a Farmer from Palestine |
United Church of Rogers Park will host Daoud Nassar, a Palestinian Christian Farmer and found of Tent of Nations with Bill Plitt and Mark Braverman, founders of Fotonna (Friends of Tent of Nations North America). You will hear about a family's struggle to preserve and remain on a farm that has been in Nassar's family since 1916. More information...

Freed-up Financial Living |
In this time of economic upheaval, First UMC of DeKalb is offering practical help, by offering a class, "Freed-Up Financial Living". The class is based on the Biblical essentials on earning, giving, saving, spending and reducing debt. It offers participants practical tips to help them achieve their own financial, personal and spiritual goals. The three-session class will be offered on 3 consecutive Saturday mornings: April 25, May 2 and May 9. More information... |
Native American Ministries Sunday - April 26 |
Native American Ministries Sunday is a time for United Methodists to remember and celebrate our connection with our Native brothers and sisters, and a time for the church to support programs and scholarships for Native peoples. It is observed on the third Sunday of Easter, which this year is April 26th, but it can be celebrated at any time of year. Read more

NIC Group participates in Ecumenical Advocacy Days |

A group from Agape House Campus Ministry at the University of Illinois at Chicago and the Northern Illinois Conference attended Ecumenical Advocacy Days (EAD) in Washington DC, March 13-16. EAD brings together hundreds of people from Christian Churches all over the United States to learn about and advocate for social justice issues. Read the full story. |
