NIU Remembers
|
February 14 was the anniversary of the deadly shootings at Northern Illinois University. NIC churches made and sent more than 500 prayer shawls for students and families as a sign of compassion and prayer during this time of grief and recovery. If you would like to send support of any kind to the Wesley Foundation at NIU campus, please contact Rev. Kelli Beard, campus minister, at [email protected].

Annual Conference deadline!
|
Special thanks to Judy and Fernando Siaba, who were the only ones that noticed that we got the dates of Annual Conference wrong last week. Are you awake out there? :)
The 170th Northern Illinois Annual Conference is June 7-9 at Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles, IL. It will be here before we know it!
From the Annual Conference Committee: Rev. Lora Zink, Conference Secretary, has set the date for
submission of documents for the 2009 Annual Conference session as 1
March 2009 not later than 5 p.m. Documents must be submitted
electronically as a WORD document.
Documents are to be submitted to Rev. Lora Zink at
[email protected], or by USPS at P.O. Box 97 Mount Morris, IL 61054-0097
and to Rev. Daniel Diss at
[email protected],
or by USPS at 325 South Stott Street Genoa, IL 60135. It is extremely
important that both Rev. Zink and Rev. Diss receive your documents in
order to complete their work in an efficient and timely manner.
Also, stay tuned to the website next week or two as we start rolling out the fancy Annual Conference 2009 page.

Called to Serve
|
Last week, we ran two stories about lay people who are making a difference in their community and around the world. Apparently, a lot of you have Green Teams!
You know what would make a good story and resource: How do you start a Green Team? What can you do, what projects get people excited, where do you start? What scripture and music can you use to help call people to environmental stewardship? I tell ya, someone should write that down one day...
This week, we introduce you to Bubba Kasten and his testimony about wanting to become a lay speaker. More stories on the way. Send us your stories!

Share your photos and stories!
|
Add photos of your church events or anything else to our Flickr group! When making the Reporter, we often have space for extra pictures. Add a photo with caption, and you could find your work on the website or Reporter.
Please submit tips, stories, sermons, lyrics and testimonials. Anywhere from 50-700 words is great. Longer pieces are fine, but will probably only run on the web. We especially want to hear stories about new faith communities, revitalizing our church, and working together.
