| Teen's Patience Captures the Unnoticed
That Should Be Seen
15-year-old photographer has first showing |
TOPEKA, KS - Sepember 27th, 2008 - Dillon Leivan, Washburn Rural High School sophomore, will be displaying his photography at the 3rd Annual Aaron Douglas Art Fair, taking place on September 27, 2008, 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Aaron Douglas Art Park, 12th and Lane in Topeka, Kansas. Since his father's deployment, Capt. Lenard Leivan with the 1-161 FA of the KSANG, Dillon has picked up the camera and concentrated his restless energy toward the creative outlet of photography. Starting out as a way to communicate his everyday activities with his father, his interest has grown to reveal a dialogue of teenage strength and passion. Inspired by nature, pets and family patriotism, he has documented inspiring views through the camera lens.
Patience and timing seems to be essential in Leivan's photography for example "On Top of the World" (left) which shows a tiny yellow butterfly in striking contrast to the magenta of a Canadian Thistle and a clear blue Kansas sky with fluffy clouds in the background.
"What I try to capture are views of nature that people don't usually take time see," is how Dillon Leivan describes his motivation. |
