Greetings!
First off, I have to apologize for the late arrival of this issue of the HBCU career newsletter.  As you know the fall semester is here and if you work in a HBCU you understand the concept of more projects than time, especially at this time of year!

As you start to execute your projects this academic year to guide and shape your students and your institution, I hope you have some personal projects planned to guide and shape your own career.   Although we are busier than ever, it is still important to keep focus on our own life and career goals.  You will be a better professional for it!

Here are 3 quick possibilities for your own personal to-do list this fall:

1. Take a class, a workshop or a seminar on a topic of interest to you.  Online seminars make it easy for you to keep learning.
2.  Think about a work competency you want to master and look for volunteer opportunities on your campus to explore new expertise.
3. Give your resume a facelift.  Although many HBCU's are still hiring, it is important to keep skills current to stay marketable.

In the meantime - stay focused and make it a great fall semester!

Regards,
Marcie @ TheHBCUCareerCenter
