Kerri Sweeris understands the pain and frustration of living with a non-curable disease. Her passion is to use her blog to educate people about chronic and invisible illnesses. Recently Kerri received a copy of Reflecting Him, and she says it encouraged her in such a powerful way she decided to do an ongoing Book Review of the Bible study. To read her review go to

The "S" Word:
Submission
What thoughts arise when you read these words? Maybe words like doormat, bondage or controlled pop into your mind. Possibly your reaction stems from the world's ideas... "No one's going to tell me what to do. I am my own person. I can make my own choices." But what does God really mean when He uses the word submissive? Read more at Carla's Corner

Greetings!
Dog-days of summer. Dry as a bone. Do these old sayings ring a bell? Are you experiencing them right now? June 2011 went down as one of the hottest, driest months in the history of Texas. With wildfires burning out of control, we are crying out for rain and asking the Lord to refresh our land. We are thankful this is not the situation with RLM! God is raining down on this ministry causing many ideas to grow and flourish. This month's Reflections introduces and highlights a few of these areas of growth. May you be encouraged as you meet some of our newest RLM team members!
From my heart to Yours,
Carla McDougal

Teaming with RLM
Hi,
I'm Kathy Carlton Willis, the publicist for Reflective Life Ministries. God is leading this ministry in so many new directions! We are excited to share the latest happenings with you, our newsletter readers. The ministry is developing its own business imprint to produce all the pieces of the Reflecting Him package under the umbrella of RLMPublishing. You've heard before about Carla's book, as well as the movie and music CD. But perhaps you haven't seen the total line up. We'll be unveiling it soon, but for now, here's a sneak peak:
- Reflecting Him 10-Week Bible Study
- Reflecting Him Video Teaching Series
- Reflecting Him Leader's Guide
- An Invitation Music CD
- Reflecting Him: Student and Teen Edition
- Reflections with Jem, Jeweley, and Jesus! (Children's Book)
We need your help getting the word out. If you are interested in learning about becoming an influencer for this project, please contact me and I'll give you more information. An influencer is someone willing to do something intentional that helps others hear about our product line (such as delivering bookmarks we provide to a bookstore). If everyone will do just one thing to make a ripple, these products will make a big splash! If you want to learn how you can help, let me know. I'll send you a list of ideas (most cost nothing but a little time), all for the sole purpose of using these materials to share the message and truth of Jesus Christ. Contact me at: kathy@kathycarltonwillis.com
Shine On!
Kathy

Haiti Mission Trip in Review

Thank you so much for praying for us! The mission trip to Haiti was such a blessing. We had the opportunity to minister to women at a conference, provide leadership training, spend time in some orphanages, share Jesus in the schools, work on construction projects, and hold a street ministry where we showed The God Man movie in Creole. We are happy to say many accepted Jesus into their lives. As a bonus, our small team had the privilege of meeting Danny Pye and his family. He is the missionary who was held in a Haiti jail for five months and two days without any charges made against him. To read more of his story go to Carla's Corner. All your prayers on our behalf were heartfelt. Thank you for sharing in the trip with us and standing in the gap for us.

Reflecting Him: Student & Teen Edition
Reflections with Jem, Jeweley, and Jesus!
Introducing: Kimberly Vogel

My name is Kimberly Vogel. I am teaming with Carla McDougal and Reflective Life Ministries to develop Reflecting Him: Student & Teen Edition, accompanied by the children's book
Reflections with Jem, Jeweley, and Jesus. Now moms and children will have a fresh way to study God's word together.
It all started when God planted a desire in my heart to bridge parents with their children. The only true connection to keep families together is through Christ. Last year God began deepening this heartfelt dream in me while I was doing the Bible study, Reflecting Him. This study changed my walk with God! Before I started this study, I read my Bible, I served in church; but, I often wore a veil. By implementing the lessons I was learning into my everyday life, I began taking off my veil and really live in His likeness. My life transformed.
During week nine of Carla's live lecture she mentioned the idea of a children's version of Reflecting Him. Later, I shared with her how God used this Bible study to change my life. I went on to explain my background in elementary education, my experience with homeschooling, my position as leader of the children's program at church, and my love for writing children's books. I told her I would love to be part of this project! At that moment, a sweet connection was born. Immediately my writing wheels started spinning. One week later I shared my ideas with Carla. She gave her approval to move forward, and here we are today with two more pieces to the Reflecting Him puzzle: Reflecting Him: Student & Teen Edition with the companion children's book, Reflections with Jem, Jeweley, and Jesus! To God be the glory!
I must say through this writing project, and by surrendering to God daily, my parenting also began to transform. I am a homeschooling mom of four girls and frequently find myself overly busy and easily frustrated. I reflected Him in public, but not always as a parent. While writing Reflections with Jem, Jeweley, and Jesus, I began to look for ribbons of rainbows. In the midst of situations with my children, I would stop and picture two moms, one who throws stones and one who shines. I choose to be a mom that shines. In time and with practice, this choice became easier and easier. Moments of rock throwing transitioned into moments of showing God's love and grace to my kids in real life situations.
Thank you, RLM, for the opportunity to give children a Bible study full of fun life experiences and lessons that will deepen their walk with God, and to give moms a tool to connect and grow with their children.
With Excitement,
Kimberly
