Controversy Continues Over
The Toronto Zoo Elephants
Please support the Toronto City Council's decision
to send the zoo's three African elephants to PAWS!
Late in the evening on Tuesday, Oct. 25, PAWS learned the Toronto City Council had voted 31-4 (view story here) to send their three African elephants, Toka, Thika and Iringa, to ARK 2000. We were surprised and delighted.
In the days and weeks following the Council's decision, we have been informed that individuals who feel the elephants should only go to an AZA-accredited zoo, are opposing the decision by the Toronto City Council.
We would like to share with you, a few of the letters and emails from world-renowned elephant experts who have written to the Toronto City Council in support of the decision to send the zoo elephants to PAWS. We are humbled, and send our sincere thanks to each of them for their encouragement and support. Please click on each name to view. Additional information is currently available on the home page of our website, www.pawsweb.org.
