Titus Built, LLC Wins Gold in the 2010 Qualified Remodeler Master Design Awards
We are proud to announce that Titus Built has been named a 2010 Gold Winner in the Qualified Remodeler 2010 Master Design Awards competition. The company won first place in the Exterior Facelift category.
"We are honored to be recognized in this prestigious competition," said Jeffrey A. Titus, General Manager of Titus Built, LLC, "The project was a rewarding one because we found an appealing way to honor the authenticity of the home's original design while upgrading it for the family's current lifestyle, making the home much more livable and aesthetically pleasing."
About the Qualified Remodeler Master Design Awards The Qualified Remodeler Master Design Awards competition was initiated 32 years ago to recognize remodelers, architects, builders, kitchen and bath specialists and other professionals for outstanding project design and construction. Entries were judged upon: meeting project objectives, overall impression, aesthetic appeal, construction techniques, handling of unusual situations, attention to detail, functionality of space, and financial value of the project. Awards were presented at a special reception September 14, 2010 in Baltimore, Maryland, the evening before the 2010 NAHB Remodelers and the Remodeling Show and are featured in the September 2010 issue of Qualified Remodeler magazine.
About the Project The owners of a 1930s Cape-style home that had been remodeled and expanded several times before they purchased it wanted an exterior facelift that would upgrade and unify the home's aesthetics while adding much needed functionality. The clients desired a more appealing interpretation of their traditional Cape exterior, with Craftsman elements and a sophisticated level of design. The design was meticulously researched, revised and implemented to faithfully integrate with the home's fundamental nature. Many of the elements in this project were custom-designed and hand-crafted in the builder's millwork shop - from extra large gable end rafters (called barge board) to over 100 hand-crafted mahogany and cedar brackets, along with custom flower boxes and shutters. Exterior details created from the sourced raw lumber Sapele (African Mahogany) contribute to the character of the finished design. The finished design, thoughtfully echoed in the detached garage with a new carriage-style garage door, substantially enhances the home's aesthetics and significantly improves its functionality, while honoring the original character of the house with care.
