Curing Kids' Cancer Founders Grainne and Clay Owen
Speak at Gathering of Top Pediatric Oncologists Grainne and Clay Owen, founders of Curing Kid's Cancer, urged some of the top pediatric oncologists in the United States to help spread the word about Coaches Curing Kids' Cancer and Teacher's Curing Kids' Cancer.
The Owens spoke to POETIC (Pediatric Oncology Experimental Therapeutics Investigators Consortium) at the Egleston campus of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, hosted by Dr. Howard Katzenstein, on Feb. 7. Curing Kids' Cancer was a sponsor of the event.
"If we can get just a small percentage of kids' sports leagues and classrooms behind our programs, we can provide millions in pediatric cancer research funding," said Grainne Owen. Grainne and Clay lost their nine-year-old son Killian to leukemia in 2003, and created Curing Kids' Cancer to raise money to fund cutting edge research into childhood cancers.
POETIC wants to increase pediatric enrollment in phase I trials, improve trial design, and enhance clinical and basic science knowledge gained from these trials. |
