Greetings!
Happy 2009 to everyone. We hope you all had a wonderful holiday season.
First of all we want to THANK YOU for your support of our Winter Coat Drive and Habitat for Humanity donation program. They were both a great success, and we hope to make this an annual tradition.
With the New Year comes resolutions, and popular resolutions seem to always include:
- Losing weight
- Eating well
- Helping the planet
Well, if these are your resolutions, you've come to the right place! We can help you in all of these areas, so we will devote this month's newsletter to topics that can, in big or small ways, help you reach those goals!
We hope you learn from and enjoy these articles.
 Yours in Health,

Lose Weight in 2009

The #1 New Year's Resolution in the USA is, hands down, always "Lose Weight" or some variation on the theme (eat better, exercise more, etc.) If this is your resolution this year, don't fear, there are resources to help you reach your goals AND keep the weight off for life! We have found the most effective way to lose weight and keep it off is
to learn healthy habits: to eat real foods, to learn about correct
portion sizes, and to learn about supplemental nutrients and exercise
strategies that work. Sounds simple enough, but pulling it all together is the challenge. If you are looking for some guidance and support in your quest, we offer a few programs that you might find helpful: 1. Lose Weight and Keep it Off...Naturally! Both of us are trained in a weight-loss program called "UltraLite" that provides the
individualized structured support you need to lose the extra weight and
maintain that weight loss long-term. It's based on naturopathic principles, and best of all, it really works. Learn more... 2. Detoxify your Body. After the sweet treats and stress of the holidays, your body could really use a "tune up"--and a detox is a great way to "jump start" your goals to losing weight and feeling better in 2009. Learn more...3. Update your Exercise Routine. We all know we need to exercise. But many of us don't know what
exercises we should be doing, how often we should be doing them, and
get easily frustrated if we don't see results as we had hoped. Would you like to learn how you can exercise in less time but actually lose more weight? Learn more...

Help the Planet in 2009

Some of our dear friends have started a new company that fits in well with the New Year's Resolution to help reduce excessive waste and help clean up our planet. We visited their home over the holidays, and got to see their idea up close and in person. We were very impressed, and wanted to share their vision with everyone on this newsletter as well!
The company is GoGreenMug.com, and they create personalized BPA-free Travel Mugs that you can take with you to
your local coffee/tea shop as well as use for your own drinks from home. Through their easy to use website, you can chose your design, photo, even put an inspiring quote on your
mug.
Every year, Americans throw away 25 billion Styrofoam cups and 18
billion paper cups. You can GoGreenMug and help to reduce the waste. Some estimates suggest that if we all use reusable mugs at one of the large chain coffee shops instead of their paper cups we would save more than 1 million tons of wood, 2 billion pounds of carbon dioxide, and 4 billion gallons of water every year. That's the equivalent carbon dioxide reduction of keeping almost 800 000 cars off the road for at least 3 days!
Our friends also write a regular blog with comments on environmental activities and a list of coffee shops that offer discounts for bringing in your own mug. Let them know what coffee shops you have visited and whether they offered you a discount for bringing in your reusable mug. The blog also often has coupon codes for discounts on buying a mug.
So get a travel mug and persuade everyone you know to do the same. Make a difference, reduce the waste, get some discounts at coffee shops and feel good about yourself. Make the switch to a reusable travel mug today. |
