The HPV Vaccine
|
The new HPV Vaccine ("Gardasil") is receiving a lot of attention from the media, doctors, and patients. Drug company commercials and state legislators are encouraging universal vaccination while at the same time many reports that the vaccine might not be as safe as initially thought have been surfacing.
As with any new vaccine, and even established vaccines, there are often pros and cons that have to be weighed, and it often comes down to a case-by-case decision. Many of our patients have been asking us about this vaccine recently, so we wanted to share some resources to help you and your loved ones make informed decisions.

Meal Planning Made Simple
|
|
Have you ever wished there was a way to plan meals, whether for yourself or a large family, that are healthy, home-cooked, and delicious without having to spend hours and hours meal planning every week? What so many of us do is just scrounge around and pull together some sort of meal with whatever happens to be left in the fridge, hoping that there is some semblance of balance and nutrition, and then find ourselves repeating the process the next day. Or worse, giving up and going out to eat (an expensive and often unhealthy pattern) night after night.
And then there are those of you out there with food allergies. You need to avoid dairy. Or wheat. Or corn. When a recipe contains allergenic ingredients in it, you may spend hours trying to make substitutions that may or may not be correct (or taste good).
If this sounds like you, you will want to check out an excellent online resource for meal planning called Meal Mixer. Meal Mixer provides great meal planner that creates meal plans for your taste and diet. It is highly recommended by Oprah Magazine, The Wall Street Journal and Real Simple Magazine, to name a few.
What we love about this program is that it goes beyond typical meal planning, and provides options for Vegetarians, Food Allergy management, Diabetes, and more. Last we heard they had 10,000 recipes listed currently, with the ability to personalize for meat free, dairy free, etc. They are working hard to create even more options and more features, with more meals added every day. Naturopathic doctors are personally checking every single recipe to make appropriate allergy substitutions.
Meal Mixer has a 2-week free trial, so there's no risk to trying it out. They have also issued Lewis Family Natural Health a 20% discount code: SXBKAB. Be sure to type in this code when you sign up to save almost $40 for the food allergy program!
You can use this program on your own, or if you would like additional support from one of our doctors, please let us know. We would be happy to schedule a time to help you personalize and maximize this excellent program.
