PSA Screening Leads to Aggressive Treatment, Even in Older Men at Low Risk
Researchers at the Cancer Institute of New Jersey found that 77 percent of men with a PSA level at which a prostate biopsy is often recommended-or lower underwent either complete removal of their prostate, or radiation therapy. This treatment occurred even though more than half of these men were considered to be at low risk of disease progression. Read more about this study here.

HealthReformCancer Prevention to Take Effect Under the Affordable Care Act
The new guidelines will mean that most insurance plans can no longer charge copayments, deductibles or coinsurance for a number of preventive services including colorectal, breast, and cervical cancer screening, obesity counseling for children and vaccinations, but only for people enrolling in a new health plan on or after September 23, 2010. Those that will benefit, estimated to be 41 million Americans initially, will see the benefit on January 1, 2011.
