PSA Screening Leads to Aggressive Treatment, Even in Older Men at Low Risk
Researchers at the Cancer Institute of New Jersey found that 77 percent of men with a PSA level at which a prostate biopsy is often recommended-or lower underwent either complete removal of their prostate, or radiation therapy.
This treatment occurred even though more than half of these men were
considered to be at low risk of disease progression. Read more about this study here.Look for Research-tested Intervention Programs here, such as this Web-based Decision Aid for Prostate Cancer Screening program. |
