Study of Cell Phone Use and Cancer Raises  Questions
A large international study out of the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) released results in May. The study followed 13,000 cell phone users over a 10 year time period. People who used their cell phones the most were more likely to develop gliomas, but were also less likely to get brain cancer.  One of the major issues in the study is that most of the participants did not use their cell phones as much as today's users.  Read more about this study here.
Screening Shows Promise for Ovarian Cancer Detection
Presented at the American Society of Clinical Oncology Annual meeting, a study out of the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston looks at the Risk of Ovarian Cancer Algorithm (ROCA).  This algorithm is based on CA-125 blood testing and was able to show very few false positives.  A large scale study of over 200,000 women is also underway with results expected in 2015.
