Of the 1.5 million cadastral parcels within British Columbia, ICIS Local Government and Regional District members have shared over 1 million through ICIS membership. Per Kristensen, Director of Information Technology at the City of Nanaimo and an ICIS Local Government Board Member says, "ICIS is a perfect example of what a public/private partnership can achieve when everyone works together. We now have more than sixty six percent, over a million parcels, of all the property in the province mapped to include geographic, ownership, and utility information. The benefits are huge." Achieving this milestone is a very important step for ICIS in building a single source fabric for the province of BC. The support and collaboration of the Local Government member segment is greatly appreciated and a huge indicator of how they are supporting the ICIS Vision. As Marilyn Hutchinson, Economic Development Officer for the City of Nanaimo notes, "imagine the possibilities for anyone looking to locate business or light industry here, or for anyone looking for development property. Now we can tell clients what services and amenities are available from one source instead of having to gather information from a half dozen different places. When time is money, this is worth a fortune." ICIS is a non-profit society created to collaboratively share and integrate spatial data for the economic and social benefit of British Columbia.
