CEO's Who Get It!!!

The National Safety Council announced the 2011 CEOs Who "Get It". This year's leaders represent national and international organizations of all sizes from a wide variety of industries and locations. These CEOs are guiding their organizations on the Journey to Safety Excellence and understand the crucial role leadership plays in creating a culture of safety. This leadership is demonstrated by visibly being committed to safety, engaging employees in safety at all levels and encouraging employees to take their safety knowledge home.

Beyond leadership commitment,  these leaders also demonstrate the other critical elements of the Journey to Safety Excellence - safety management systems, continuous risk reduction and performance measurement. This culture of safety encourages broad employee involvement through goal setting and performance tracking, as well as celebration of a job well done.

These leaders incorporate safety management systems into their organizations not only because it is the right thing to do, but also because safety is valuable to business performance. This year's CEOs have found their investment in safety management systems have resulted in significant reductions in lost work-time incidents, increased productivity and improved morale.

We encourage you to meet with your EMA representative and make sure your company is progressing in its journey to "Safety Excellence".

Recommit to Safety Basics

At the beginning of a new year, it's always a good time to recommit ourselves to various personal and professional commitments.  Use this list to recommit to safety basics to your friends, family & employee's:

  • Know the hazards of your job.
  • Always follow safety rules and procedures.
  • Pay attention to safety training and apply what you learn on the job.
  • Keep on the lookout for hazards and keep asking yourself what could go wrong while you work.
  • Eliminate or report any hazards you see right away.
  • Pay attention to warning signs and do what they tell you.
  • Practice good housekeeping at all times.
  • Report any injury, illness, accident, or near miss to your supervisor immediately.
  • Remember, when it comes to safety, there's no such thing as a dumb question. If you're not sure about a potential hazard or how to do your job safely, ask your supervisor.
  • Don't perform a task unless you know how to perform it safely!
Remember, We Are Always Looking for Referrals!

We will send you a small Thank You gift for each referral we receive.
