These next few months we are going to run through the popular diet plans like SouthBeach, New Mediterranean, Zone Diet, Adkins, Nutrisystem & Jenny Craig, but FIRST, we need to understand carbohydrate counting and the glycemic index:

 

White Bread, Corn, White Flour, Cereals made of Rice or Corn Flour

 

Oat Bran, Wheat Bran, Rice, Potatoes and Potato Chips, Most Whole Fruits, Popcorn

 

Yogurt and Dairy, Most Vegetables and Greens, Some Fruit (Cherries, melons, plums, peaches, oranges, bananas), Whole Wheat Pastas

 

Meat, Eggs, Fish, Oils, Spices, Most Nuts/Seeds

 

So, ADD UP how many grams of carbohydrates you are doing in the day and see how it is spread throughout the meals.  Write it down - more next month!!

Where you take your pets, and where you have been yourself makes all the difference.  Each time you take your pets outside they can come in contact with fleas and ticks, whether its in your yard, walking the neighborhood, or out to the pet parks.  Be sure to check your pets before going back into the house, an infestation of fleas or ticks will be costly to take care of, not to mention pesticide within the house.

 Kiwanis Club Helps Neighboring Community

The Kiwanis Club of Avalon Park provided food and did the cooking for the Global Outreach event in Bithlo on July 1st.
