| Meet Your Local Restaurant Owners: The Gref Family |
| Dear East Orlando Community and Avalon Park Residents:
This picture is all 4 of us because it really took all of us as a family to make Eastside Bistro become a reality. Our twin boys Joshua and Hunter sacrificed many Saturdays cleaning, painting and decorating Eastside.
We have been Avalon Park residents since September 2005. We started spending a lot of time in Avalon when they began building our house in May 2004, that's where our journey to Eastside began. Paul and I owned a restaurant in Colorado at the base of Keystone Mountain in 1999 then moved on to manage a restaurant in Breckenridge, CO for 3 additional years. We vowed that when we had our next restaurant (it was our only passion now) it would just be the two of us, little did we know that in 2002 we would be blessed with twin boys. They have been our motivation to be successful and try to be the best we can be as well as building a better future for them.
Paul and I had been in sales for about 4 years and really wanted to try to build a small legacy of our own. We wanted to work together again and leave our "traditional jobs" to own our own business. Our background is restaurants, Paul went to school at Cobleskill Agricultural and Technical College after graduating with an AS degree in Hotel & Restaurant technology he went on to Plattsburgh State University College where he graduated with a bachelors in Hotel Restaurant Management. After serving in the reserves in the US Army and working in fine dining for several years Paul left NY to try and begin a new life in Florida. He worked for the Ale House Restaurants for 12 years. I went to Valencia Community college where I earned a degree in liberal arts then on to UCF to study Psychology. I worked for Outback Steakhouse for over 4 years and then to Townsend's for 1 year before moving to Colorado.
A year ago Paul and I decided it was our time to bring Avalon Park a new restaurant, Eastside Bistro. Our business plan was simple, great food at a great price with great service. We wanted our customers to come and see us a couple of times a week. Most days when you come in to the Bistro I will be your server and Paul will be the one in the back preparing the food. We are members of the community, we plan on being here for quite a while. Things have been going well so far, thanks to local support, some of whom we see twice a day! We are very blessed to have a wonderful family, a great neighborhood and a restaurant that our friends and neighbors enjoy. Nothing is better than walking through Publix and a stranger comes up to me and says "we had dinner at Eastside last night, we loved it and are so glad to have you in the community" , statements like that makes it all worth it. The food is prepared fresh and our wine and beer selection is extensive, we hope you enjoy your local restaurant "Eastside Bistro". "Live, Work and Play"...that's what we are doing here in Avalon. Thank you for all of your support.
Sincerely-
Paul, Shelly, Hunter & Joshua Gref
