Spring is our favorite time of year. No
more snow, not yet as hot as in the summer, the days are getting long
enough for an evening walk or round of golf, and at Mara's, you
can again begin to enjoy our outdoor seating after being couped up all

Is it a boy or a
girl? Either way we want to celebrate
with you! 
Andrea, Ian's wife, is expected to give birth to Mara's second
grandchild in the coming weeks. To celebrate this wonderful occasion we
are going to have a special one day only promotion with our guests.
Because, however, Ian and Andrea have decided to be surprised by the
gender of their child, we thought it would only be fair to surprise you with
a promotion following the arrival of baby Magley. Be on the
lookout for this surprise promotion, as it could be any day and we can assure
that this will not be a celebration anyone will want to miss!

Mara's Goes Tax Free!
Income
Tax Day is this month, everyone is scrambling to find old receipts,
match forms to files and fill out all the right spots with all the
right numbers. It's downright exhausting, sends shivers down our accountants spine, or maybe he tingles with excitement, accountants are a little odd, but for us - it's always a little painful to see those numbers down on paper. So Wednesday April 14th and Thursday April 15th, we're giving you a break,
taking the tax load off and we're not charging you the tax on your bill... you'll pay exactly what it says on the menu, nothing more! Don't worry about bringing in or mentioning this newsletter - it will be automatic! (If anyone from the IRS is reading this, don't worry; we'll still be paying the taxes ourselves!)
Busy trying to get those last documents over to your accountant (or in an accountants office and forget what daylight looks like!)? We are offering an additional 10% off all delivery orders, and FREE delivery for those two days as well! You know what they say: "Nothing is certain except taxes and great food from Mara's".

It's Official:
April 16th 2010 is Morris Knolls Choirs Day!
Join us Friday 4/16 for a very special fundraiser at Mara's Cafe
& Bakery. A portion of all proceeds from all-day sales will
go to support the MK Choirs. The day has already been named "Morris
Knolls Choirs Day," and the Mayor himself will be stopping by to make
the official proclamation.
We make sure to give back to the community as much as possible,
and we invite all of our wonderful guests to help us out in doing so!

Employee Spotlight:
Cameron Castan & Aaron Feldman
When deciding who to spotlight this month, our thoughts turned to some of our newer employees. Aaron and Cameron both came to mind, and we realized there was no way to spotlight one or the other - they are a dynamic duo! Hired around the same time, they never knew each other before working at the cafe; they go to different schools but bonded instantly. They could be voted "least likely to be best friends" - the two truly couldn't be more opposite.
Cameron: "I think our friendship is so unique because
Aaron's never had a friend like me."
Aaron: "What was my life like before Cameron? I don't know.
I don't want to think about it."
Born a Pisces, Aaron Todd Feldman is an intelligent and motivated person. A Parsippany Hills High School senior who favors English over any other class, Aaron can be found on the soccer field when he's not at Mara's. He also enjoys reading and writing poetry, and listening to indie/alternative music. His favorite quote is "The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about." Oscar Wilde. Aaron was accepted to a handful of colleges, and has decided to major in political science at TCNJ next year. He is best friends with Cameron because of his wit and compassion, and they enjoy going to concerts together.
Cameron Castan is a senior at Mountain Lakes High School. He comes from a fun-loving family of seven that includes: 2 loving parents, 3 ridiculously good-looking siblings, and one adoptive sibling, Albert Russell (Rusty) Van Riper IV (best friend and boyfriend to the elder of Cameron's two sisters, Catlin Castan). Cameron's expressed individualism allows him to be a perfect fit at Mara's, adding to our already unique but very special staff. Cameron makes a point to add a touch of personality and love in every drink made, cup of gelato scooped, and dessert served. Cameron hopes to keep his passion for freshly-roasted, world-class coffee and fine desserts alive, although he will soon be parting for The University Of Albany come August.
Aaron & Cameron wouldn't let us publish this newsletter without a shout out to the "highly capable and totally awesome night crew - love you all! xoxo"
The Mara's staff won't be the same after Aaron & Cameron leave for college at the end of the summer, but we hope they come back and visit (and cover some shifts during their breaks!).
