New Gallery in New Orleans
"Art is an important part of our culture. It
corresponds to the deep instinct in man" with this in
mind, I have found that everyone has their own
taste and opinion on art. Don’t take things
personally - It really has nothing to do with you or
your art.
The meet and greet on Friday September 8th, 2006 was a success! It reinforced a very important lesson "never pre- judge"! People are funny the way they like things their way - just go with it!! I have recently been doing these fun little paintings on 6 inches by 6 inches by 3 inches deep canvas. They really don't need a frame & here I am at a "Framing" show. But, the feedback I got was so wide ranged it was amusing. Some people felt they were too glossy, some too pink...my reaction – Pass them another one and said “Here, buy this one instead”. Basically, always find the positive and twist it to your advantage. Remember: Listen to the feed back but you don't have to take it. Who knows, down the line it may find it's way into your work. Press the file save button. Also learnt that people are very resilient especially when they have a passion for something. It’s been just over a year since Hurricane Katrina destroyed so much of New Orleans and what are people doing? Picking up the pieces and starting over. I am very honoured that one gallery who is reopening their doors bought 12 paintings of mine for their gallery. I also meet a gentleman who is living in a FEMA trailer, yet he was at this trade show buying supplies and art in order to start over again. |

Kalamazoo, Art Hop opening Friday November 3rd
2006. The show will then run for two months in the
prime season.
