UPDATE
MARCH - APRIL 2012
Greetings!
Greetings from Mexico City!

The year so far can be summed up in a word: TRAVEL! Over a 60 day period, Kerry traveled 50 days through 14 countries, on 28 flights, 5 trains, 4 ferries, numerous buses and slept in 20 different beds!

In February thanks to frequent flyer miles, Jan was able to accompany Kerry on the first leg of a trip to Europe. We visited workers in northern Germany before parting ways in London, where she returned to Mexico via Boston and was able to spend a couple of hours with James and Bruna. Kerry then visited our Mexican missionaries in Equatorial Guinea, as well as attended the annual Globe Serve conference in Mombasa, Kenya.

As missions pastors visiting workers in different cultures and contexts, we are always impacted by the needs we see and experience. One of the best ways to meet these needs is to send workers. We encourage you to read the following article: THE BEST JOB FOR THE WORLD and make or renew a commitment to pray to the Lord of the harvest to send forth workers into His harvest!

We are so thankful for the commitment and example of our Mexican church, Amistad Cristiana to prepare, send, support and provide pastoral care to those we send out.

Thank you for praying and being a part of our ministry to hundreds who are reaching thousands for Jesus around the world. To Him be the glory!

BEST
If you do a Google search for "the best job in the world," you will find thousands of results: everything from caretaker of a tropical island to chief taster in a sweet factory, from archaeologist to zoo veterinarian! What really is the best job in the world? Or rather, from a Christian perspective, what really is the best job for the world?

John 3:16 is by far the most quoted and memorized verse in the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave His one and only son, that whoever believes in him, will not perish, but have eternal life." Verse 17 follows up by stating that "God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him." The word send or sent appears 60 times in the gospel of John. The last reference in John 20:21 is the classic Great Commission verse: "As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you."

You may be asking, What does this have to do with the best job in the world?, or rather the best job FOR the world? I believe that being sent or sending others to the world's least-reached peoples with the message of God's love and salvation is the most strategic task, mandate, or profession one can be involved in and, therefore, the best job in the world!

In one of the few prayers that Jesus taught us to pray, he implores us in Matthew 9:38 to "pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields." Indeed, praying to the Lord of the harvest to send out more workers is a very dangerous prayer -- perhaps one of the most dangerous prayers we can pray -- because if we are really engaged in asking God to send out more workers, we just might hear him say, "Now you go!" Often God will cause us to be the very answer to the prayers we are praying!

The apostle Paul in Romans 10:12, after making reference to Joel 2:32, says that "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." He continues in verses 14-15, "How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: 'How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!'" The reality of Paul's day is the reality of our present day: people have not believed and they have not heard. Paul gives the answer to this dilemma by concluding that we need to preach the gospel and we need to SEND workers!

The late missiologist Ralph Winter made quite a statement in relation to sending when he wrote... << CLICK HERE TO CONTINUE READING >>
