Holiday Open House A Success! |
In December, we held our first annual holiday open house to honor loyal customers who have helped to make SSC one of the leading of trenchless service providers in the Southwest.
Attendees enjoyed a "Year In Review," a proud display of 2008 projects, while networking with fellow construction professionals and dining on a great spread from Famous Dave's BBQ, admittedly a highlight.
The most exciting activities however, were the drawings for Insight and Fiesta Bowl tickets.

Bore Crew Encounters Mud Under SRP Canal |
| SRP's 131-mile main canal system is a familiar sight to many residents. It's primary use is to bring domestic and irrigation water to the Valley. The canal system was developed over the past 100 years and has a unique history that dates back to 1883.
Last month SSC was contracted by Sundt Construction/AUI Inc. to install 104-ft of 36-in casing for a new 12-in sewer line below the old S  RP canal. Geotech reports 50-ft from the planned installation site at 71st Drive indicated sandy soil conditions, with a 8-9 blow count. However, crews quickly discovered mud during the first few feet of the bore, making it a challenge to maintain line and grade. Switching from auger to hand tunnel at the most dense locations, SSC was able to successfully complete the project in 1.5 weeks. This case is another great example of why it is so critical to include an experienced underground professional, such as SSC, on your pipeline project team.

SSC Celebrating 40 Years in Construction! |
For a company that specializes in boring (auger boring that is) we are certainly anything but. Through faith, wisdom, and a whole lot of determination, this family business has been able to succeed where many others have not. SSC has continued to grow and expand over the past four decades, no matter what the economy has thrown at us. We are very proud to have emerged as a formidable competitor in the underground construction field and are looking forward to a very exciting future!
A Bit Of SSC History:
...SSC opened its doors in 1969 as open-cut trenching business. With an old pick-up and small bank loan, Marcia Veidmark, her husband Arvid Jr, and his parents began what is now become a legacy in the underground construction industry.
...Fierce competition and a genuine belief in the economic and environmental benefits of trenchless excavating, drove SSC to invest solely in the new technology.
...With sons Arvid III, Aaron and Abe behind the wheel, SSC has since been able to successfully carve its niche in the trenchless market and emerge as one of the leading providers in the Southwest.
