Happy New Year!

So it's not the traditional new year but in many ways some of us experience new beginnings because our lives revolve around academic and sports calendars. Even those of us without children get caught up in this cycle.

And so it's appropriate to draw attention to some new things

Rudy Reyes Jr._2011 Election
Rudy Reyes, Jr.

that are happening. In the MLNNA world, Rudy Reyes and I have assumed our respective leadership roles of president and communication coordinator. Thank you for your confidence in us! The leadership team will be meeting at the end of this month to discuss our goals and priorities. Please keep us in your prayers!

We'd also like to say a HUGE thank you to Bob and Mary Ann Valentine who for the last three years have served as the Area Representatives for the Central Area. With the Valentines finishing their term please join us as we WELCOME Marceta Reilly as the new Central Area Rep. If you're not familiar with our areas and representatives please visit the Contact page of the website!

In the larger Marianist world, www.marianist.com  was re-launched with a new look. Be sure to check it out!

Marianist offices in Philadelphia also have a new address. For details visit the Contact page of the website.

In the wider Catholic world, new words and phrases in Mass will seem awkward yet draw us into a deeper understanding of our faith.

And in the wider world, we move forward while not forgetting the past. We remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001 and a country forever changed. We celebrate our heroes and pray for the dead. We pray for those who lost someone they love. We pray for our country, for the world, for peace and an end to violence.

911 Memorial

Finally, for those of us not so close to the equator, we enter a new season. We do so with awe at the beauty and grandeur of the natural world around us. And we give thanks for the safety and well being of those lives touched here and abroad by events like tornados, hurricanes, floods and earthquakes.

God is truly an awesome God. Here's to new beginnings!

Cheers!
