Peace Be With YouAJ Wagner

It is time to say "Thank You" and "Goodbye." It is also time to say "I'm sorry."

Christ has been born a million times through your love. Your generosity has no bounds in your service to God through Mary and the Marianist Family. It has been an honor to serve such a wonderful organization as its leader. I leave with full confidence in the MLNNA Leadership Team now in place and with deep gratitude to the Leadership Team who served with me. Thank you Kay Stone, Jacqui Griswold, Susan Vogt, Isabella Moyer, Tony Garacia, Carol Weiss, Caitlin Jacob, Kathleen Henriksen, Mike and Paula Ziemski - thank you for your assistance, kindness, patience and friendship. Thank you to all of our Area Representatives and to all our liaisons with other Marianist groups - thank you for your efforts to keep us in touch with those we serve. Thank you to our fellow travelers in the Family of Mary - our vowed Sisters and Brothers who walk with us and act as midwives to our birthing of the Christ within us. Thank you Tony Fitzgerald for volunteering to complete a strategic plan for MLNNA. Your hours of service are many but do not compare to the commitment of your heart.

Although some things were accomplished over the past three and a half years, it was all through the efforts of others. Jacqui did a wonderful job with this e-news publication and Matt Dunn, who is taking over, will move it forward based on Jacqui's hard work. The amazing assembly last Summer in Honolulu owes much to Kay Stone, Jeannie Pinpin, Dennis Schmidt, Pi'ikea Hardy-Kahaleoumi and the Marianist Lay Communities in Hawaii who filled us with Marianist Aloha. Marie Wyman has been the effort behind our mailings and office work. Members of the Alliance of Marianist Lay Formation produced a wonderful definition of who we are and who we ought to be. The work of Isabella Moyer and Susan Vogt with the International Organization of Marianist Lay Communities continues to provide connectivity to our Family in other parts of the world. It was Isabella and Susan who jumped to the aid of our Marianist Family in Haiti after their terrible earthquake giving you the chance to contribute more than $20,000 in assistance. Your response was an amazing sign of God's Grace at a most difficult time. Joan and I will never forget our visit with the Famille-Roberge Dion and the amazing work being done at the Marianist Center for Education of Faith in Quebec.

There's more. But space and time do not allow my endless litany of saints to be proclaimed.

I apologize for my many shortcomings. My lack of focus, my failure to connect with more of you and my lack of sufficient effort to make MLNNA even stronger and more meaningful to you. You will now be in the hands of a very capable Rudy Reyes. He will certainly push MLNNA forward to become the movement it deserves to be within our church.

So, I say goodbye. I will still be around. I will be working with Joan on formation of Marianist Lay Communities at the University of Dayton and I will continue with my daily reflections at the Lay Marianist page on Facebook and at my blog, Ponderings. Hope to see you there. We still have many births of Christ to attend to.

peace and love be with you,

aj

Celebrate Adele, June 10
Adele 2

Today we remember Adele de Batz de Trenquelleon founder of the Marianist sisters who was born on this day in 1789.

Let us pray:God of light, Your Son shared our flesh and blood and built us into a living, vibrant community. Guide us by the Spirit to welcome Christ into our lives. May our lives witness to our faith in You. May our lives imitate the life of the Blessed Virgin Mary. May our lives be one of sharing and serving each other. May the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit be glorified in all places through the Immaculate Virgin Mary. Amen.

Pentecost, June 12
Holy Spirit

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love.

Send forth your Spirit,

and they shall be created.
And You shall renew

the face of the earth.
O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations. Through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

To Nurture and Empower: The Gift of Faith-Filled Communities on the Lives of Young Adults
Jeannie Pinpin_2011 Election
Jeannie Pinpin from Honolulu, HI

Some of the important things young adults think about is their spiritual, personal and life/work skills growth. As young adults, I feel, we are in a place where most of us have crossed that bridge of embracing our passions and missions in life more than ever. We are starting to make in-depth considerations and decisions about what we want to do and how we want to live. Whether it's starting our careers, discerning religious life or raising a family, we are at the most meaningful stage of our realizing our life's callings. But like every growth journey, we need to surround ourselves with a "resource" to nurture and empower us.

Community Update: The State Community
Mary Louise Foley

The State Community met in May and heard about the SM's Vision 2020 plan from members of the provincial administration.

The rest of the retreat was spent with Sr. Mary Louise Foley who presented 4 talks on Mary: Mary and the Four Pillars of Marianist Spirituality: The Annunciation, Wedding Feast of Cana, Foot of the Cross, and Pentecost

Click HERE to read a reflection on the retreat, submitted by Ken Palisin.

In Conclusion

The Gospel of Pentecost indicates that the primary power Jesus gives the disciples through the Spirit is the power of forgiveness. How does does forgiveness bring about renewal? How have you yourself experienced the renewing power of forgiveness? Where in your life do you need to ask the Spirit for this power? In what other ways does the Spirit work in your life? The Spirit removes these fears... opens these doors...strengthens these relationships...

Reflection and questions taken from Living Liturgy by Liturgical Press.
