AJ_May_08 Sun, Sand and God

by AJ Wagner, President of Marianist Lay Network of North America (MLNNA)

This past weekend there was a Young Adult Retreat at Mary's House, the Marianist retreat center on Cape May Point in New Jersey where there was sun, sand and God for twenty-five seekers who took time to explore all three. Here's what they found:

While standing at the shore on a beautiful late-Spring morning looking out at God's amazing creation of sea and sky and feeling a cool breeze on the skin as children giggled and squealed at the discovery of a crab, they found God's love.

They found God's love in the glow of Jessica Sherwin as she mentioned that she was eating for two - a subtle announcement that lacked much subtlety.

God's love was in the double barrel hug that Fooch received from his two sons, A.J. and Eddie, who climbed together into his lap and into everyone's heart.

God's love was in the smiles of Jen and Pete who got engaged Friday night on the beach.

God's love was in JoAnne and Bob and in the food they cooked all weekend as volunteers.

God's love was in the birdhouse on the Brother's front porch where a mother was flying back and forth to feed her newly hatched charges.

Blessed William Joseph Chaminade believed that it was an obligation of our faith to be aware of the Divine and to be open to God's reality. Take a look around . . . and find God.

peace and love,

aj
