FOURTH QUARTER NEWSLETTER

2011

We are thankful for what we have accomplished this year. Once again it’s the Holiday Season, not a time to diminish the level of service that we provide to our customers or a time to slow down the pace. However, it’s important for us to stop and reflect not only on the good things that have happened, but also on everything else that has happened in the past year. We need to examine why and be thankful for everything that has worked well.

Paul Hanson Partners is proud to say we have had another successful year and with no doubt in our minds that we could not be where we are without you, our loyal customers and brokers. We appreciate the opportunity that you continue to give us to create moments of success for you and your company. We reflect on the pleasure we continue to enjoy by being able to work with good people and successful businesses. We also cherish the opportunity to get to know many of you as individuals, and grow our relationship with you both personally and professionally.

Paul Hanson Partner’s mission is to dedicate ourselves to providing the best insurance products and services to our customers, brokers, and our carriers. From all of us at Paul Hanson Partners, we want to thank you again for your business, loyalty and support for all these years.

I wish you a wonderful new year filled with abundance, joy, and treasured moments. May 2012 be your best year yet!

Sincerely,

COULD COST YOU MORE THAN YOU THINK

teen driving

In late November of this year, U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood announced a final rule specifically prohibiting interstate truck and bus drivers from using hand-held cell phones while operating their vehicles. The joint rule from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA)

and the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) is the latest action by the U.S. Department of Transportation to end distracted driving. “When drivers of large trucks, buses and hazardous materials take their eyes off the road for even a few seconds, the outcome can be deadly,” said Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood. “I hope that this rule will save lives by helping commercial drivers stay laser-focused on safety at all times while behind the wheel.”

The final rule prohibits commercial drivers from using a hand-held mobile telephone while operating a commercial truck or bus. Drivers who violate the restriction will face federal civil penalties of up to $2,750 for each offense and disqualification from operating a commercial motor vehicle for multiple offenses. Additionally, states will suspend a driver's commercial driver s license (CDL) after two or more serious traffic violations. Commercial truck companies that allow their drivers to use hand-held cell phones while driving will face a maximum penalty of $11,000.
