Every four years the nations of the world embrace one international event as the subject of some of their most distinguished efforts in the arts - the Olympic Games. The Olympics spur nations to put on show the best and their numismatic output reflects this.        While our collection of coins from the Islamic nations of the world (excluding the tremendous output of Somalia and Sierra Leone) is not yet that extensive it has been growing and recent events in North Africa and the Middle East have inspired us to sharpen our eyes for the coins and banknotes from these nations that appear perched upon the crossroads of history.
