2 - Franklin Press Token - 1794 - PCGS MS 62 BN - The 1794 Franklin Press Token belongs to a series of British-made pieces known as Conder Tokens. The printing press illustrated on the front of this token is believed to be the same press used by Franklin while he worked in London, England as a journeyman printer for the firm of Mr. Watts of Wild Street. The press appears to be a Blaew press, the first patent press made beginning in 1620. The Franklin Press is on display as part of a recreated post office and print shop of the early 19th century in the Printing and Graphic Arts section of the National Museum of American History at the Smithsonian Institution.

6 - Mexico - Carlos III - 8 Reales - 1783 Mo FF - NGC El Cazador Shipwreck - Genuine - On January 11, 1784, the Spanish brigantine of war, El Cazador, sailed from Veracruz, Mexico, bound for New Orleans. The ship was carrying 450,000 pieces of newly minted silver coins. The King of Spain, Carlos III (1759-1788), authorized the coins to be used to redeem the nearly worthless Spanish paper money being used in Spanish owned Louisiana. The ship never made it to its destination, sinking with her cargo and crew in the winter seas, disappearing without a trace. Without his cargo of silver coins to solidify the Spanish monetary system in Louisiana, Carlos III was forced to sell or trade the territory. In 1800, a reluctant Carlos IV (1788-1808) conveyed Louisiana to France's Emperor Napoleon. Three years later, Napoleon sold Louisiana to Thomas Jefferson for the princely sum of $15 million. The demise of El Cazador changed the course of US history. On August 2nd, 1993, the location of the sunken El Cazador was discovered by Captain Jenny Murphy of the fishing vessel "Mistake," 209 years after her disappearance. This coin has been authenticated and its provenance guaranteed by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC), one of the nation's leading third-party grading services.
